Role Overview

Apply hands-on mechanical engineering technology expertise to develop realistic evaluation materials that help train and assess advanced AI systems. This remote contract role centers on authentic technician workflows, rigorous technical reasoning, and high-quality documentation. No prior AI experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and write authentic workflow tasks covering test setup, instrumentation, data collection, and failure diagnosis.
• Build technical datasets from realistic lab or production scenarios, including test logs, calibration records, sensor outputs, and failure reports.
• Define correct solution paths, interpret test data, and recommend informed next steps.
• Create detailed grading rubrics with 35 or more items to assess instrumentation logic, data interpretation, and failure analysis.
• Document procedures, observations, and diagnostic findings clearly and precisely.
• Ensure evaluation tasks reflect the complexity and realism of professional mechanical engineering practice.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering technology lab, test, or production environments.
• Associate degree or recognized trade credential in mechanical engineering technology or a related discipline.
• Experience with instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition systems, and prototype testing workflows.
• Ability to document test procedures, outcomes, and failure modes in depth.
• Strong data interpretation and failure-diagnosis skills.
• Familiarity with CSV files, spreadsheets, PDFs, and related technical documentation formats.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and meet high technical standards.

Work Terms

• Remote, independent contractor engagement.
• Work is output-based and paid per task that meets project specifications. Completion time varies based on experience and workflow.
• Minimum submission requirements apply, including a minimum number of tasks each week.
• Selected candidates are expected to begin their first tasks within 24 to 48 hours after completing onboarding.

Compensation

$30 to $70 per hour. Compensation is structured on a per-task basis for work that meets project specifications.
